Do I need planning permission to install automated gates?
It’s often best to check with your local council whether planning permission is required as this can vary from area to area. If you are replacing a gate like for like it is usually unnecessary to obtain planning permission, however if you are planning to install a new structure within 2 metres of a road or pathway then a planning application should be initiated. The desired height of the gate will also be a factor in whether or not permission is required.
How does an automated gate work?
Electric gates are powered by motors that are controlled by devices such as intercom, key pad, key fob, remote control etc.
Can a gate be stopped from working in an emergency situation?
